Waiting for the Weather to Improve PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Qingdao, China
August 19, 2007

Count today as the third in five days that has left us with insufficient wind to race. The 2007 Good Luck Beijing International Regatta is proving to be anything but lucky for us but all we can do is wait for the weather to improve.

The forecast for today was promising but the reality was not encouraging. We towed out to the course and then postponed again. There was just too much current and the Tornados could not sail downwind against it. The same problem was present across all the fleets so there was no racing for any classes.

We sat out there on the boat all day and after the Race Committee called it quits for the day we towed back in again. So far we have sailed just 3 races in five full race days. Its tough, mentally, when all we want to do is race and gain some ground after our slow beginning to the regatta.

The forecast for tomorrow is looking better than today and the Race Committee has decided on starting an hour earlier, with three races so hopefully we can put some results in the bank.

The latest results from Qingdao will be at Tornado Pre-Olympic Results as soon as they become available. Also, be sure to visit our website at www.t-squaredracing.com. Our sponsor, Advanced Equities, is at www.advancedequities.com.

Sail fast,

Johnny Lovell and Charlie Ogletree - Team Advanced Equities I
